Who Condemned Us: Adam or Eve?

Let Us Make Humans Like Us!

The sacred scriptures describe in Genesis 1 how God created man and woman in his image and likeness, granting them dominion over the earth. But then, in Genesis 2, the creation of Adam alone is detailed, and he was placed in the Garden of Eden to care for it and cultivate it. He was given the command not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. It is unknown exactly how long Adam was alone, because time did not exist and eternity was with him. We also know that when Adam named the animals, he spoke with God's authority, because the spirit of God was in him.

Adam's Rebellion

When God saw that it was not good for man to be alone, He decided to create a suitable helper for him. So, He caused Adam to fall into a deep sleep, took one of his ribs, and formed Eve. Then Adam gave Eve the command not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; it was not God who gave the command to Eve, but Adam, the first man. When Eve was convinced by the serpent to eat the forbidden fruit, she disobeyed Adam's command, not God's, and then gave the fruit to Adam, who also ate it.Therefore, it is Adam who condemned all human beings to original sin, not Eve. For the Scriptures themselves say that when Adam ate the fruit, he realized he was naked; thus, when Eve ate the forbidden fruit, her eyes were not opened until Adam ate, since God had directly commanded him not to eat the fruit. Eve could have eaten the entire tree if she had wanted to, for she was disobeying Adam, not God. And God Himself asked Adam: 'Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?' and he, like a coward, blamed Eve, saying: 'The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.' This is why Paul says in Romans 5:12: 'Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned.' Adam was the first man to sin, not Eve.

Eve: The Scapegoat

Throughout history, Eve has been unjustly blamed for original sin, becoming a scapegoat. However, upon careful analysis of the scriptures, it is clear that responsibility falls primarily on Adam, who was the first transgressor and who gave the command to Eve. The biblical narrative not only exempts Eve from the main blame, but also highlights the importance of questioning traditional interpretations that have perpetuated this injustice.

Who Transmits Original Sin, Man or Woman?

According to the scriptures, original sin is transmitted through the descendants of Adam, not Eve. This is because Adam was the first transgressor and his disobedience had direct consequences for all humanity. The transmission of original sin is based on Adam's genealogical line, which reinforces the idea that he is the primary responsible for mankind's fall.

Conclusion

In conclusion, upon careful analysis of the scriptures, it is clear that Adam is the primary responsible for original sin, not Eve. The biblical narrative shows that Adam was the first transgressor and that Eve acted under his authority. It is important to question traditional interpretations that have unjustly blamed Eve and recognize Adam's true responsibility in this crucial event of human history.
