Introduction: The True God
Throughout human civilization, the search for divinity has been constant. From ancient polytheistic religions to modern monotheistic ones, humanity has tried to understand and connect with a higher power. But do we really know God? Is the God we worship the true God or simply a cultural construct? Do we really have certainty that the Supreme God exists, or can we affirm, as the famous philosopher and poet Friedrich Nietzsche said: "God is dead"?
Nature of God
The Sacred Scriptures make an assertion about the nature of God, "God is spirit" (John 4:24). This suggests that God is not a physical entity, but a spiritual presence that transcends human understanding. Because it is also affirmed that "No man has ever seen God at any time" (John 1:18), which implies that our understanding of God is limited and based on faith rather than direct experience.
Spiritual Experiences
All cultures and religions have reported spiritual experiences that they attribute to the presence of God. These experiences range from visions and revelations to deep feelings of peace and connection. However, the interpretation of these experiences is subjective and can be influenced by cultural, psychological and personal factors. God does not reveal Himself through experiences or visions that are generated by sensationalism, but through our daily life, because Jesus said: "The kingdom of God does not come with visible signs; nor will they say: 'Look here!' or 'Look there!' Because the kingdom of God is within you" (Luke 17:20-21). This suggests that the true understanding of God is found in everyday life and in our relationships with others, rather than in extraordinary experiences.
Does a Supreme God Really Exist?
We know that we cannot assert with certainty and absolute assurance that the Supreme God exists, but neither can we assert with certainty and absolute assurance that He does not exist. But we know perfectly well that the figure of Jesus of Nazareth existed, and that He proclaimed Himself as the Son of God, and that He died on the cross to save humanity. Therefore, if Jesus is the Son of God, then God exists. But if Jesus is not the Son of God, then God does not exist. Therefore, the existence of God depends on the truthfulness of Jesus' claims.
Is God Dead?
The famous philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche claimed that "God is dead" in his famous book Thus Spoke Zarathustra, suggesting that belief in a Supreme God is no longer relevant in modern society. However, this assertion has been the subject of debate and criticism. Nietzsche asserts that the existence of God has been a cultural construction that has lost its validity in the contemporary world, but the author simply denies it without supporting it with solid arguments. Simply saying that something does not exist because you think so does not give validation to your claim. Saying that the best empanadas in the world are made in a certain place without having tried all the empanadas in the world automatically does not validate your premise.
Conclusion
In conclusion, we cannot definitively assert the existence or non-existence of a Supreme God, but we can safely assert that Jesus of Nazareth existed and said: "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6), proclaiming that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is the true God.
