An Uncomfortable Truth

The truth we do not accept will always be God’s judgment on humanity, because it generates fear and terror in us. However, it is a reality we will face sooner or later. God’s judgment is not only punishment, but also an opportunity for redemption and renewal. It is a call to reflect on our actions and decisions, both individual and collective. Ultimately, God’s judgment invites us to seek truth, justice, and mercy in our lives, and to prepare ourselves for the encounter with the divine. Many religions avoid speaking about this topic because it is hard for us to accept that a day will come when God’s wrath will be manifested upon humanity. We have dreams, goals, family, and things that tie us to this world, and thinking about that day terrifies us. God is love and always will be, but He is also just. Just as His mercy has been manifested in our lives, His justice will also be manifested over the sin and wickedness of creation. Jesus himself warned us that God’s judgment is something that will happen, and invited us to be prepared for when that day arrives. The Scriptures are clear: “For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?” (1 Peter 4:17). “I will utterly sweep away everything from the face of the earth. I will sweep away man and beast; I will sweep away the birds of the heavens and the fish of the sea, and the rubble with the wicked; I will cut off mankind from the face of the earth” (Zephaniah 1:2-3). God’s judgment is inevitable, but we can prepare ourselves to face it with faith and hope in the redemption offered by Jesus Christ. It is a call to live in love, justice, and mercy, knowing that God’s judgment is a reality that awaits us all. The hour is drawing near; the day of judgment is at hand. The question is: are you prepared to face the uncomfortable truth of God’s judgment?
